A Royal Treat

I vividly recall July 29, 1981, the day Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral. July 29 tends to be special to me anyway, because that’s my birthday, but it was even more so on this occasion. I turned eight years old that day—and my celebration began by watching the royal wedding with my mother.

As a…

Seniors' Last Farewell

S.T.A.T. Ambassadors had a going-away party for seniors last night at Airliner Pizza. While enjoying our pizza, we all shared many great memories we had with the seniors. I remember my first day of S.T.A.T. Ambassadors, I was very intimidated and nervous. The senior members opened up to us and welcomed us all in! I have since created many great…

Get Your Green On

Earth Day, which aims to promote all things green, has turned out to be pretty grey. Looking at the gloomy skies, rain, and overall nasty weather, I feel sorry for the people who decided to participate in the Bike to Campus event today.

On the bright side, there’s still time to enjoy some of the other environmentally conscious—and often downright fun—activities…

Hit the greens with a new UIAA member benefit

Although we’re experiencing some April showers, spring is here, and soon the grass will be dry and the sun will be shining. One of my favorite outdoor activities during the spring, summer, and fall is golf. Although I’m not great, I love being outside and trying to maneuver a little object hundreds of yards into a tiny hole with nothing…

Running Barefoot

Last summer and fall, as I took my daily 20-30-minute walk during my lunch break, I noticed someone running barefoot several times a week. The first thought to cross my mind was: What about rocks, broken glass, tin cans, gum, even bird droppings? Why was she doing it and was it safe? Oh, well, I thought, it’s none of my…
