From Haiti to the UIHC

Christopher Buresh, 01MD, 06R, and his wife, Ginny Ryan, 03R, recently arranged to bring a four-month-old baby from Haiti to Iowa City for specialized surgery.

Buresh said Haitian hospitals have a 100 percent mortality rate performing the procedure to correct a lower digestive tract birth defect, so he and his wife worked to cut through bureaucratic red tape to have the surgery…

Eating for Health

Last night, over 180 people attended our Lifelong Learning event in Des Moines, where Dr. Terry Wahls, 82MD, 86R, presented on how changing what you eat and do can improve medical issues and your general well-being.
