The Homecoming parade boasts a tradition of creative and quirky floats—and this entry from the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity is no exception! Here, bare-chested participants ham it up as the float passes the Clinton Street reviewing stand in 1950. According to A Pictorial History of the University of Iowa, 1921 was the first year that a parade was listed in the Homecoming program. Back then, it was called a pageant—and it was directed by none other than E.C. Mabie, founder of the UI’s theater arts department. We hope to see you along this year’s parade route!!
